Website Redesign

Client: Abby Covert, Information Architect and author of How to Make Sense of Any Mess.

Challenge

Abby needed a complete website overhaul that was easy to navigate, supported search functionality, and met accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0).

Solution

I conducted a full usability audit and content inventory of Abby’s old site, identified core content types, and designed a new navigation structure.

My role included information architecture, content strategy, and project management. Working closely with a designer and developer, I ensured the site’s structure was clear, accessible, and easy to update.

Key Contributions

Created new content types to streamline Abby’s work into categories like talks, posts, and tools.

Developed a content migration and redirection strategy for a seamless transition to a new URL.

Ensured accessibility by testing the site against WCAG 2.0 standards and adding alt-text and transcripts.

Outcome

Abby now has a fresh, user-friendly website that reflects her expertise and is easy for her to maintain, ensuring all visitors can navigate the site smoothly.
